Fall Check List
Fall is upon us. With that, it means we will be seeing the leaves change and beautiful colors appear, BUT that also means it’s the dreaded time of year for every pool owner… No matter what anyone does, it seems like the leaves won’t stop accumulating. That’s where these tips come in to help you with your maintenance. Here is your fall check list to keep your pool functioning properly in between our weekly visits:
Empty the Skimmer baskets 2-3 times per week. You want to make sure that you don’t just reach into a crowded skimmer basket and try to pull the basket out because this can result in leaves and other junk going straight into your pump and can put a strain on the your equipment. You want to take out as much out of the basket as possible before taking out the skimmer basket itself.
Empty your cleaner bag 2-3 per week. Turn off your cleaner pump, pull the cleaner up to the side of your pool, empty out the bag, and rinse of the bag in your freshly cleaned skimmer basket so you can get all of the small dirt and sediment out of the bag. This will also ensure that you get a nice seal on the bag’s velcro/zipper so the cleaner can keep doing its job properly. Once done, place the cleaner back in the pool, stretch out the hose and turn the pump back on.
Check for large debris in the pool regularly. If strong wind or a bad storm comes through, make sure there aren’t any branches or large debris in the pool. Also, make sure to watch for pool toys because they will get stuck in your cleaner and prevent it from doing its job.
Check the cleaner hose for tangles 2-3 times per week. Stretch out the hose if you notice it is not straight, this will allow the cleaner to reach all areas of the pool.
Following these simple steps will help your pool look ready for summer year round.
